Thoughts

The Final Flight Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free, I'm following the path God laid for me. I took His hand when I heard his call, I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day, To laugh, to love, to work, to play. Tasks left undone must stay that way, I've found that peace at the close of day. If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, Ah, yes, these things I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow, I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life's been full, I've savoured much, Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, Don't lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your hearts and share with me, God wants me now, He set me free. A Poem from Sally

A Poem For Grandad With that twinkle in your eyes and your big cheeky grin, Which you always displayed when the Wolves had a win, With a beer in your hand and the lads all around, Football, rugby or golf, your love for sport was profound! I will miss phoning you up every night of the week, We had such a special bond Grandad, it was quite unique, Asking what you’d been up to and what you’d had for dinner, But most importantly, had your sports team been the winner?! We have such wonderful memories… those times at Borth coast, And your sunny birthday parties with those who loved you most, Toasting to the good times at my graduation, Or our lively road trips home from Worcester Shrub Hill station. Your cute little chuckle and your lovely Welsh voice, I named you ‘Legend Les’ although this wasn’t your choice, My surprise return from Asia, where I’d travelled on the roam, Your casual response – “well it’s about time you came home!” You had such a gentle nature, so gracious and wise, You loved all things of creation – the birds, the sun, the skies, Nodding off in your easy chair with a paper in your arm, In the distance, the soft bleating of the sheep on the farm. For now, it’s time to leave you in your chair in the sun, You’ve got a plate of doughnuts, a few muffins, a Chelsea bun, It’s so peaceful for you now, just the birds’ tuneful song, But we will be together again Grandad – it really won’t be long. I thought of you with love today But that is nothing new. I thought about you yesterday And days before that too. I think of you in silence, I often speak your name. All I have are memories And a picture in a frame. Your memory is a keepsake With which I’ll never part. God has you in His keeping, I have you in my heart.
